For processes involved with the moulding of parts where the moulds are in excess of 2 tons in weight, this is a necessary piece of kit. Working on awkward to lift or orientate heavy mould components at best, is difficult and worst, down-right dangerous. The Hedin Lagan Die Splitter is simplistic design, yet well engineered, which makes it easy to use and very reliable.

In 2007 in die scrap removal was a major contributor to the downtime incurred on the Progression Presses at Sertec.

A brief search on the internet led me to find Premitec who were offering the “Vibratory scrap conveyor” which could potentially solve our problems.

A discussion with Ian Pickles soon led to a visit and an informative demonstration of their product and its benefits.

The benefits of reducing machine downtime, Cutting costs on conveyors or complicated chuting ,as well as enabling Changeover reduction time ,quickly justified the order of the initial unit.

Up to 2011 we now have Purchase 10 units which are shaking away as well as the day they were first fitted, and are implemented on our Progression and Transfer Presses.

The units have been virtually maintenance free and to the Approval of the operators, unlike the original pneumatic scrap shakers and conveyors we were used to, proving to be an ideal solution to our problem.
