Here at Premitec UK we can provide you with Pneumatic Die Lifters with either rollers or balls.
Die Lifters with rollers transport the tool or die in a straight line along the length of the rollers. (The length of the T slot).
Due to the large diameter and the one directional movement the amount of push/pull force required is approximately a maximum of 3,500kg per operator. A powerful die setter may be able to comfortably pull/push larger tools when loading or unloading using the die lifters with rollers.

Die Lifters employing balls are able to move the tool or die multi directionally. (forwards, backwards, left and right). However, the amount of push/pull force by the setter is greatly increased, due to the smaller diameter of the balls and the natural movement away from the line of operator directional force when loading. Once the tool is located in the press. it is then very difficult to align the tool left and right due to the operator having to stretch into the press envelope. With large tools over 4 tons, this is nearly impossible.

It has become more common for more engineers to choose the die lifters with rollers. Aligning the tool outside the press, then pushing the tool into the press bed envelope is far easier than using balls and struggling with levers and jemmy bars once it is in the centre of the press bed. And, they are a lower price..!

How to remove the pressed part and the scrap using one scrap shaker system.
When using a progression tool, it is common to use a long conveyor to remove the scrap from the underside length of the tool and a short conveyor to remove the scrap where it emits from the press tool. Problems can be two conveyors to purchase and maintain, belts to change, conveyor clearance under tool to consider.
A UK company had the solution. By mounting one of our scrap shakers (although they call them linear transporters) at the end of the press with a long scrap tray to collect the scrap from under the press, and to that tray a second shorter tray attached to it, they were able to kill two birds with one stone. Both scrap trays are horizontal with no incline required.

This company has now reproduced this method of scrap removal on several of it’s presses. One scrap shaker and two scrap trays.
Our Scrap Shakers are helping to keep initial costs down, reducing maintenance cost to a minimum and reducing quick tool changing (SMED)..

The Scrap Shuttle or as it is sometimes known the Friction transporter or the Vibratory Scrap Conveyor is able to transfer scrap/parts on a horizontal tray due to the rapid return motion of the unit.
The principle behind the vibratory scrap conveyor is the table cloth effect used by magicians. The scrap moves ‘slowly’ forward on the tray, but remains stationary when the tray returns quickly. This action happens 4 times per second.
The Vibratory Scrap Conveyor or Multi Tray Scrap Shaker allows scrap to be removed from the underside of shallow press tools using a simple, low profile sheet metal tray.
Scrap Trays can be manufactured with 30 degree dog legs to allow material to be transported out from under complexed tooling.

How to remove scrap from the back of four mechanical presses and transport into waiting scrap Bin?
The engineers initial thoughts were to use four individual scrap bins or a 14 Mtr conveyor. This could have meant emptying the scrap bins at different times in the day (Very labour intensive) or using a conveyor which may be initially costly, and costly for the spare belting.

The solution was for a Premitec Electro Mechanical Scrap Shaker, positioned to allow the scrap from each press to fall on the horizontal reciprocating scrap tray, which then, due to its vibratory action, transfers the scrap into waiting bins.

As a result the 14 metre length scrap tray is quiet, no belts to fail, no scrap to become jammed in mechanism or belts. This proves that a Scrap Shaker of any length can be used in any industry.
